Howard graduated from the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Law in 1980 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982.

Howard counsels clients on a wide variety of general business strategies and issues. These include negotiating shareholder, partnership, employment, joint venture, distributorship, confidentiality, equipment leasing and other agreements as well as acting on numerous mergers and acquisitions (both locally and internationally), and facilitating resolution of shareholder and other business disputes. Howard's practice also encompasses issues such as commercial and venture capital financing, private placements and other securities matters, limited partnerships and syndications, computer and other technology arrangements and contracts and other business-related matters.

In addition to completing the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) course offered by the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor, Howard received his Masters of Law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, with a specialization in Securities Law.

Howard is also called upon from time to time to serve on advisory and public company boards and committees, which has included serving as a member of the board, special committee and audit committee of a TSX listed public company.

Howard has recently been designated by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a certified
specialist in Corporate and Commercial Law.
