Courtney Petch was called to the Bar in 2010 and joined the Tax and Estate Planning department of the firm in 2011. Courtney received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario in 2005. In 2009, Courtney graduated with a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University Law School. While at Queen’s, Courtney received the Queen’s Law Students’ Society Spirit Award , an award for the graduating student who has best and most contributed to the spirit of the law school. In her graduating year, Courtney also lead the Queen’s Law Cancer Society which received the Queen’s Law Camaraderie Award and an award from the Canadian Cancer Society for its fundraising efforts.
Before joining Cummings Cooper Schusheim Berliner LLP, Courtney summered and articled at Heenan Blaikie LLP and practiced at Lexington Partners Inc. Courtney’s practise focuses on personal tax and estate planning, family business succession, and tax planning for owner – managed businesses.
Courtney is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Courtney continues to be involved in fundraising for cancer awareness and is a volunteer for St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
