Ashley Doidge is a Partner at CCSB Law whose practice is devoted entirely to estate planning and estate administration. She works with professionals, business owners, and their families - from those doing a first will and Powers of Attorney to those with more involved needs like estate freezes, family trusts, and multi-generational planning.
A good estate plan does more than distribute assets. Ashley helps clients think through probate planning, capital gains planning on death, and how to structure things so that as much as possible passes to the right people in the most tax-efficient way. She asks the questions clients don’t always know to ask — and that their other advisors may not think to raise — to make sure nothing is left on the table. Her approach is thorough but conservative: she works within the rules, finds the planning opportunities that are genuinely available, and makes sure the plan holds up.
Ashley also pays close attention to how wealth transfers across generations. That means thinking not just about what clients leave behind, but about protecting it once it gets there — including advising on family law considerations. For clients with beneficiaries living outside Canada, or who hold assets or have made wills in other jurisdictions, she coordinates across those situations so the overall plan works together on a tax-efficient basis. Primary and Secondary Wills are a core part of her practice, as is guiding estate trustees through administration and probate when the time comes.
For accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals who refer clients her way, Ashley’s goal is to make that relationship easy. Her clients are looked after with care and expertise, and they come back when their circumstances change. Ashley holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation through STEP Canada - an internationally recognized credential reflecting advanced expertise in trusts and estates - and has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada in Trusts and Estates since 2022. She has served on the Professional Advisory Committees of both Baycrest Foundation and the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto.
